Top five beaches in Gran Canaria

Don’t know where to vacation this year? If you are looking for a European adventure on the ocean, then book your holidays to Gran Canaria. Not only is Gran Canaria the third largest island in the Canary Islands, but is also more populated than all the other islands with the exception of Tenerife.

Known for its vast terrain of sand dunes, mountains, volcanic craters, and most importantly its beaches, Gran Canaria is the ideal spot to visit for your Spain holidays. Here are some suggestions for the top five beaches to visit:

1. Playa del Inglés – Arguably the most popular and best in Europe, Playa del Inglés is one of the busiest tourist destinations in Spain. Close to San Agustín, this beach is full of water activities. Some areas of this beach are mainly visited by gay and nudist tourists.

2. Playa de las Canteras – This beach is considered to enjoy the best climate in the world. The warm climate, along with the year–round water temperatures around twenty degrees Celsius, the atmosphere is utopian.

3. Maspalomas – Sitting at the islands southern tip, this beach is extends almost four miles and is surrounded by colossal sand dunes. It is the oldest tourist town in Gran Canaria filled with restaurants, shops, and bars. Because Maspalomas is a magnet for tourists, it is very busy never leaving one of its guests feeling isolated.

4. Playa de Puerto Rico – Although it is smaller compared to other beaches in Gran Canaria, this beach is breathtaking. Covered with sun beds, Playa de Puerto Rico is popular because it is the sunniest beach on the island.

5. Puerto de Mogán – Known for being located at a port, this beach is famous for its yacht marina, assortment of fishing boats, and black sand with pebbles. This is a perfect place to spend your  if you are looking for a smaller and calmer atmosphere.
