Special events and festivals in Gran Canaria aren’t scarce by any means. No matter the time of year you decide to visit the island you can usually find a great festival or event right around the corner. With a rich culture and heritage the island of Gran Canaria has many seasonal and yearly events that are a ton of fun to join in on.
Dia de los Reyes Magos – This is otherwise known as “the day of the three wise men” and is celebrated across all of Gran Canaria. There is a parade that takes place through Aguimes and the celebration takes place on January 6th every year.
Fiesta del Almendro en Flor – A festival that takes place in early February, Fiesta del Almendro en Flor or as it is otherwise known “Festival of the Almond in Blossom” is a great celebration that takes place across the island. It’s a great opportunity to try local authentic foods and learn more about the culture and heritage of the island.
Rally Islas Canarias Trofeo El Corte Inglés – In April you can join in on the festivities surrounding the biggest car rally on the island. There are international competitors that come to Gran Canaria just for this event.
Virtually any time of year you plan to visit the island there is likely to be some event or festival taking place. While some of the events are celebratory and loud others are solemn and quiet. Regardless of which important occasion you get to observe it’s a great way to learn more about the island’s history and traditions.
