Shopping in Gran Canaria

When it comes to shopping in Gran Canaria there are some major pro’s and con’s to doing your purchasing on the island. Regardless of what you’re after, be it souvenirs or duty free alcohol, you can find just about anything you want in local shops or mall style shopping complexes. If you’re planning a vacation to the island soon or are just looking for good local shopper’s destinations make sure you read on to learn more.

Shopping in Gran Canaria is an activity all in itself. There are great places to visit and you can purchase anything from cigarettes and alcohol to local handmade crafts and souvenirs. There are a few pros and con’s to doing your shopping on the island though, so let’s take a look at them now.

Pro’s: – Shopping in Gran Canaria will allow you access to a wide variety of authentic goods and duty-free items. If you want local clothing, accessories or souvenirs there are small shops where you can purchase these goods as well as larger complexes that are similar to multi-level shopping malls. Shopper’s can be assured that there is absolutely no shortage of places to purchase items all over the island.

Con’s: – The currency on the island is the Euro which has made some things that used to be relatively inexpensive slightly more expensive. This mostly affects higher ticket items but it’s still an important thing to keep in mind when deciding what to shop for on the island. Additionally there are some restrictions on what can be exported from the island as well due to European Union restrictions, so know what you can leave the island with before making your purchase.
