Great Gran Canaria Days Out – Palmitos Park

Tucked amongst the Canary Islands of Spain is Gran Canaria. Gran Canaria is the second most populated island, and is home to approximately 40 per cent of those who live in the archipelago.

If you are planning your Gran Canaria holidays then a great day out worth considering is Palmitos Park. This fantastic family park makes for a perfect day adventure with its many exhibitions and shows. The stars of the park are the dolphins that provide visitors with daily shows displaying their outstanding skills, intelligence and strength. A visit with the dolphins means an educational experience about their behaviour, language as well as a chance to chat with their trainers.

Palmitos Park also has a wild bird show that can be seen in the park’s beautiful amphitheatre. This amphitheatre is situated on top of a mountain with a terrace that provides stunning views of the surrounding area. The show includes stunning free flight displays by birds of prey that include falcons, several species of owls and eagles. Commentators for the show translate into German, Spanish and English as they provide information about each of the bird’s behavioural, reproduction and feeding characteristics.

When you’re at Palmitos Park you will also be amongst the largest collection of cacti and orchids of the Canary Islands. Get your cameras ready as you walk through displays that include hundreds of different types of orchids. These magnificent flowers are able to store food and water in their leaves, which allows them to survive in almost any natural environment. There is a lot to see and do at Palmitos Park!
