If you are planning a holiday to Gran Canaria you might be wondering when is the best time to go. Like many sub-tropical islands Gran Canaria has a somewhat unpredictable weather system but generally speaking it’s an excellent place to visit if you’re interested in beating the northern winter blues with some sunshine. If you plan on visiting the island and want more information on the climate and weather make sure you read on to learn more.

Generally speaking in the summer months of Gran Canaria the weather is warm and calm with the average temperatures around 25c and 30c. Since there are a number of mountains on the island you can expect some windy days and intermittent rain. Many times the Gran Canaria Island has been referred to as a “mini-continent” due to the multiple climates across the island. In the mountains you can find snow and colder temperatures in winter while on lower parts it is warmer and more tropical.

The Gran Canaria climate and weather patterns in the winter are only a little cooler than in the summer. It won’t be as warm as the summer but you’ll still have temperatures in the 20c to 25c range for most days which means you can still be on the beach. The sea temperature in winter remains around 2oc so it’s still pleasant for bathing.

Gran Canaria is a great holiday island with diverse climates and environments, Whatever time of year to decide to visit you will almost certainly be able to enjoy sunny and mild weather most of the time.
